Country singer Luke Bryan is remaining prayerful and positive following the death of his brother-in-law in November.

Bryan opened up about the loss in a recent interview, and revealed that he has taken in his 13-year-old nephew, Til.

"You know, we just stay positive," he told ABC News. "I think people expect that from me.

"I have to pray that people that have had similar situations can maybe look at my family and see me positively dealing with it. I'm not saying it's easy."

Bryan's brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, died on November 29 from undisclosed causes at the age of 46. He was the widower of Bryan's late sister, Kelly. The 39-year-old passed away suddenly in 2007.

The family suffered another loss 11 years earlier when Bryan's brother, Chris, died in a car accident. He was 26-years-old.

The music star said he hoped his family's pain would help others who have suffered tragedies.

"We feel like if we just stay positive through this, maybe we'll be a positive inspiration for people that had these things happen to 'em," he said.

"You just have to plow on and play the hand that's dealt."

Til also has two teenage sisters who are not living with Bryan, but visit the Nashville home often.

"It's every day on the phone all day trying to talk with the family and figure out what to do, but it's what you gotta do," the 38-year-old explained.

"Tough stuff."

Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have two sons of their own, Bo and Tate. At the American Country Countdown Awards in December, he asked fans to continue to pray for his family.

"I want to thank all of my fans for the last couple of weeks in my life, for keeping my family in your prayers," he told the audience.

"And I wanna also recognise the country music community, all the artists," he continued.

"Fans, let me explain something to you: You guys support wonderful artists, because they have rallied around me and helped me and my family through the last couple of weeks. It's just nice to feel loved in a situation."
