The release date for Microsoft's next Lumia smartphone product line seems to be coming very soon.

Recent reports claim that the next flagship smartphones from Microsoft, believed to be dubbed as the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, will be unveiled to the public during the company's event in New York on Oct. 19. News about this claim was first posted at the Nokia Power User website, which received information from a source who refused to be named. This coincides with earlier rumors that predicted the launch date of the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL sometime in late September until early October.

The specs rumors for both devices say that the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL will be released with a 5.7-inch touchscreen display that has a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 SoC, with an octa-core processor and an Adreno 430 GPU. It will also have 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB internal storage that can be expanded with a memory card. This larger Microsoft Lumia flagship smartphone will have a 20-megapixel PureView camera at the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It will also have an iris scanner as well as a USB Type-C port and a stylus.

The Microsoft Lumia 940, on the other hand, will almost have the same specs as the Lumia 940 XL. However, it will reportedly come with a smaller 5.2-inch screen. It will also house a Snapdragon 808 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 810 in the 940 XL. It will also have a lower hexa-core CPU and an Adreno 418 GPU.

The devices are also rumored to come with a price tag of $649 for the larger Microsoft Lumia 940 XL, while the Lumia 940 will be sold for $600 upon release.

However, Microsoft has yet to confirm if the rumors have some truth to them.
