macOS Sierra release time today: Apple Pay, Auto Unlock, Air Drop and Instant Hotspot among new features of desktop OS

Apple's macOS is scheduled to be released to the public on Sept. 20, and with just a few days to spare, Apple released an updated golden master (GM) to developers. The GM is the final version that companies rolls out to the public.

Apple Insider reported that the company released last Thursday new GM 16A323 iteration that followed the previously released 16A320 designation. Apple has not issued any specific reason for the updated GM, but experts in the field suggest that the company could have probably encountered a bug or several of them, hence a second version.

macOS is a free update and will be available via the Mac App store once it goes live, and is expected to bring exciting new things to the laptops and desktops it would support. Some of the updates that will arrive to the operating system are Sir, for the first time, that will allow its users to quickly search files, information and several more tasks by simply giving voice commands. Search results performed by Siri can even be saved for future use. This feature is especially useful for keeping track of a sports team's schedule or projects for school or work.

Apple will also be integrating all the devices, that a user owns, in order to make it work like a single machine. Files can be copied and pasted from one machine to another with its Universal Clipboard, a user can make or receive a phone call directly from the Mac, instead of the iPhone, and goes the same with SMS text messages too. Plus, one can start a document on the mobile devices, while on the move, and finish it off with their desktop or laptop, exactly where they left off from the previous device.

Apple Pay, Auto Unlock, Air Drop and Instant Hotspot are some of the new features that will also arrive on the latest operating system.

Apple macOS will be released by Sept. 20.
