The camp of Manny Pacquiao have mapped out alternative opponents for the Filipino lawmaker especially if Floyd Mayweather Jr. chooses to go a different direction. And at the top of their list is a familiar name in Amir Khan.

Khan is a former sparring partner of Pacquiao and used to be under the tutelage of trainer Freddie Roach. Khan has since left Roach's table and now looms as the next fighter that the Filipino champion will be facing.

Khan had originally set his sights on Mayweather but just like Pacquiao, has failed to gain any positive response. And apparently Khan believes that Mayweather is being cautious, afraid of incurring problems should he face either of the two.

So rather than waste his time hoping Mayweather considers him as an opponent, Khan has maneuvered his attention to Pacquiao.

"I've told (my promoter) Oscar Dela Hoya and my team to organize a fight in Dubai," Khan told The National newspaper last week. "I know Floyd won't fight outside of Las Vegas, so I want the Pacquiao fight in Dubai" says Khan in an article from Tempo Sports News.

But all this would depend probably in February. Pacquiao's camp has given Mayweather and his group until the end of the month to respond to their challenge but thus far, there is no response of whatsoever from Mayweather or anyone from his camp.

Mayweather is expected to make a decisions but perhaps after the deadline and when Pacquiao has decided to go a different route. As mentioned by Amir Khan, Mayweather is playing it safe and prefers to face fighters who won't give him problems. And both Khan and Pacquiao can without a doubt be a threat to Mayweather's clean slate should he decide to face either of the two.
