Manny Pacquiao is recovering well from shoulder surgery and might be in an action-packed showdown in his next fight as Lucas Matthysse is targeting a bout with the former eight-division champion. 

Matthysse (37–3) will be back in the ring on Oct. 3 facing Viktor Postol (27–0) for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) light welterweight championship. 

A win over the undefeated slugger from Ukraine will boost him up the ranks and may set him up a fight against Pacquiao. 

Currently training in Argentina for the championship bout, Matthysse had an interview with the Los Angeles Times and there he expressed the desire to take on the Filipino boxing icon. 

"A very big fight with Pacquiao would be my goal. I want to keep fighting the best fighters, in my division and in the game," the 32-year-old boxer said. 

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum already said before that Matthysse is a possible comeback opponent for Pacquiao because of his "crowd-pleasing" style. 

Matthysse indeed is a crowd pleaser and his fight against John Molina Jr. last year, which he won via knockout, was The Ring magazine's "Fight of the Year" for 2014. 

The Argentine looks to repeat as his bout with Russian contender Ruslan Provodnikov last April is again one of the top selections for the "Fight of the Year" this 2015. 

Unfortunately, Matthysse is perhaps at the back of the line as the frontrunner for a fight with Pacquiao is British slugger Amir Khan. 

Khan, who last fought May beating Chris Algieri, said he is looking forward to fight Pacquiao. Arum already said that he would present the bout to his prized fighter. 

Besides Khan, undefeated contenders Kell Brook and Terence Crawford are also options for Pacquiao. 

Brook, who is also being linked to a fight with Khan, holds a 35–0 record, while Crawford is unbeaten in 26 fights and will next face Canadian Dierry Jean.
