"Marco Polo" season 2 has been highly praised by fans and critics alike, but Netflix has yet to officially announce its renewal for season 3, sparking rumors that actor Benedict Wong has moved on to a new show, causing the show to be canceled. However, series creator John Fusco continues to tease the show's potential to move forward with season 3.

Fusco has posted several images on Twitter, most of them showcasing the main highlights and cast members of the show. Most notably, a post back in July quotes the line by Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) which says: "We're not done, Monk. Me and you, we're not done."

The writer-producer also posted links showcasing how the series has been hailed as one of the best Netflix originals this year alongside big hits such as "House of Cards," "Narcos," and "Stranger Things."

Although the show is yet to be renewed, Release-Date has pointed out that the show has very high chances based on the fact that season 2 has gained high praise from professional critics and viewers alike. The report states that "Marco Polo" season 2 has a 94 percent and a 4.5 out of 5-star approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It is further stated that it is hard to determine if the show is being viewed by a wide audience as Netflix does not share the viewership ratings of their shows. Most shows on cable networks are renewed or canceled based on how many people watch the show as this directly ties in with the network's profits through sponsors and advertisements.

Should the show indeed move forward with a third season, there are rumors suggesting that the show may introduce a new character, a Christian templar, who may go after Kublai Khan. Historically speaking, however, Kublai Khan lived on to the age of 78 and died due to poor health and depression, particularly after the death of his wife and child.
