Marvel announces lineup of superhero movies

Marvel already stirred up fans with the (rather premature) release of the initial trailer of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," but the studio was far from done in getting superhero enthusiasts all-hyped up. At the recently-held special event at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige officially announced its line-up of movies for Phase 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In summary, here's what Marvel fans can look forward to:

May 1, 2015 – Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel Studios

The Avengers return and, this time, they have to face Ultron, a creation of Tony Stark gone horribly wrong. This film is still a part of Phase 2, and above is the first official trailer.

The last movie in Phase 2, this is about an inventor who creates a gizmo that increases a person's strength but radically reduces their size. This movie is currently filming and stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.

May 6, 2016 – Captain America: Civil War

Just thinking about this film can make one giddy with excitement – Captain America vs. Iron Man, Tony Stark vs. Steve Rogers. This is war, in superhero proportions. This is also where Black Panther will make his screen debut.

Nov. 4, 2016 – Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange will open up the world of parallel dimensions. This is what Feige promised during the presentation as he introduced the brilliant surgeon who, due to an accident, is no longer able to use his hands.

May 5, 2017 – Guardians of the Galaxy 2

There are no details, not even an official title, but rest assured, the sequel to the blockbuster film will hit the silver screen in 2017, and it will feature all the beloved, albeit quirky, Guardians.

July 28, 2017 – Thor: Ragnarok

Fans should watch this film only after digesting the events in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" because that's where Thor's third solo venture onto the big screen will pick up from.

Feige said, "We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and impacts everything that comes after."

Nov. 3, 2017 – Black Panther

Feige officially announced that Chadwick Boseman will play Black Panther, and he would have a role in "Captain America: Civil War" before he ventures to have his own solo movie.

The Marvel Studios boss said, "Black Panther and all of Wakanda is one of the most interesting characters in Marvel history... He's a bit of a prince, he may even become a bit of a king, but it's all about how this isolationist country meets the world. Maybe it goes well, maybe it doesn't."

May 4, 2018 – Avengers: Infinity War Part 1

This is where The Avengers will face their ultimate nemesis, Thanos.

According to Feige, "'Avengers: Infinity War Part 1' is the beginning of the culmination of everything that has come before."

July 6, 2018 – Captain Marvel

Her name is Carol Danvers and she is Captain Marvel. Her superhuman powers are from somewhere in the cosmos but her challenges happen right here on Earth.

Nov. 2, 2018 – Inhumans

This movie is something to look forward to as Marvel will introduce quite a number of new characters that, as Feige puts it, "have dozens of powers and an amazing social structure."

May 3, 2019 – Avengers: Infinity War Part 2

Will this movie be the last? How will all the loose ends from the films tie up in this final Avengers battle? Fans will have to wait four and a half years to find out.
