Meanwhile, the promotional photo gives viewers a first look at the royal family. First appearing on Entertainment Weekly, the photo features Black Bolt, his wife Medusa (Serinda Swan), her sister Crystal (Isabelle Cornish), and Maximus. In an interview with the publication, Scott Buck, the showrunner of "Inhumans," indicated that while the characters are superpowered, they will remain relatable to the characters. He said, "We approach these all as real people who just happen to have these abilities, so they're all very grounded."

He added that while the show is set in the same universe as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," it is not likely for the two to have crossover episodes, at least for now. "Not at this point," he said. "We're just trying to get this launched." However, he explained that the events in the other Marvel show can potentially affect the story of "Inhumans."

While "Inhumans" was originally slated to be released as a movie prior to Marvel ultimately deciding to produce it as a TV series, it will still nonetheless air in theaters, as its first two episodes will be first shown in IMAX theaters on Sept. 1. Both were shot entirely on IMAX digital cameras to make these ready for their big screen premiere. The show will then air on ABC by fall, although the actual release date has yet to be given.
