"Mass Effect Andromeda" is slated for a December 2016 release but months after the game was announced, there's still not much known about the highly anticipated role-playing third-person shooter video game.

The latest report is that the title will introduce an "epic" new timeline that will connect the old "Mass Effect" trilogy helmed by Commander Shepard and the new one, which "Mass Effect Andromeda" will inaugurate.

BioWare has already said that "Mass Effect Andromeda" is set long after the events in "Mass Effect 3" and far away from the location its predecessor was in. Gamers will also take on the role of a new human in charge of the new mission.

Express echoes the speculation of some fans, who believe that the last game in the franchise and the upcoming one have parallel timeline but the ending in the "Mass Effect 3" will be discarded, giving BioWare a clean slate to set up a whole new adventure.

Months back, a massive info leak revealed that the new protagonist is an inexperienced pathfinder who will develop and learn the tricks of the trade as he or she goes on with the mission. A new and improved Mako will also be at his or her disposal.

The leak also revealed that "Mass Effect Andromeda" will purportedly take place in a location called Helius Cluster. There, players will meet alien breeds both good and bad that will either help or challenge the mission.

At the moment, folks over at BioWare resort to teasing developments and milestones in building the game, all of them too vague to paint a picture of what the installment will be about. If anything, their hints simply make fans clamor for more and expect big of them.

"Mass Effect Andromeda" is scheduled to be release in time for holidays this year. It is expected to be one of the biggest game releases in 2016.
