"Maze Runner: The Death Cure," the third and final film in the "Maze Runner" film trilogy, might resume filming soon as it appears that lead actor Dylan O'Brien is ready to do movie projects once again.

Last September, the first photo of O'Brien as CIA black ops recruit Mitch Rapp in the film "American Assassin" was unveiled by CBS Films, according to Variety. Also starring Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch, Sanaa Lathan, and Shiva Negar, the movie is reportedly being filmed in Europe.

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old actor tweeted for the first time since his accident in March, which, according to ET Online, drove fans into a frenzy.

Filming for "The Death Cure" was halted seven months ago when O'Brien was injured on set. He was reportedly doing a stunt wherein he was secured on top of a vehicle with a harness. He was pulled off, however, and was then hit by another vehicle.

"The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O'Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries," said a statement from production company 20th Century Fox, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter in an April report. "We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible."

O'Brien, also known for his role as Stiles Stilinski in MTV's supernatural series "Teen Wolf," also starred as Thomas in first two "The Maze Runner" films. In the first one, released in 2014, his character finds himself in an elevator with no memory of who he is. He meets other boys who call themselves the Gladers and learns that they are inside a maze. With flashes of memory, he recalls that he and a girl named Theresa were working for W.C.K.D., the organization that built the maze.

In the second film called "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials," released in 2015, he and the other Gladers are brought out of the maze, and they learn that they are survivors of a virus called the Flare because they are immune to it. They escape the medical facility, and, in the outside world called The Scorch, they look for a resistance group known as The Right Arm.

In the third and last film, it is expected that Thomas and the others will face W.C.K.D. and try to find a cure to the Flare virus.

"Maze Runner: The Death Cure" is scheduled to be released on Jan. 12, 2018.
