PlayStation 4 (PS4) owners are in for a treat, as Sony has announced that they will be reviving "MediEvil," a fan-favorite game that will come in time for their 20th anniversary.

Fans of "MediEvil" would remember that the game was last seen and experienced in the PS1, so the long-overdue release of the game by next year is much-anticipated. To add to the excitement, Sony announced that the remastered version will in the same way as "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" was released.

With that said, "MediEvil" will be supporting 4K visuals, a timely upgrade for an ultimate gaming experience. The announcement was made during the PlayStation Experience 2017 when Sony Interactive Entertainment America president Shawn Layden showed a shirt showcasing the game's lead, a familiar action done last year when he announced the coming of "Crash Bandicoot."

The reveal also came with a trailer, which pretty much just teased some visuals and left out important gameplay details, so fans will have to wait for other announcements, or the game itself, to learn more. Some noted that the teaser did not even include the studio responsible for the game, though it is surely not going to be Guerilla Cambridge, which was the studio that took care of the original version of the game. This is because Guerilla Cambridge was taken down this year.

The original "MediEvil" game revolved around Sir Daniel Fortesque, who got resurrected to fight against Zarok and his legion of zombies. It is expected that it would be warmly accepted by gamers since "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy," another remastered PS1 game, was successfully launched.

In 2005, "MediEvil: Resurrection" was launched for the PlayStation Portable, so it has been more than 10 years since fans had a glimpse of Sir Daniel. Other information about the game is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
