'Megaman 11' news: Game to introduce new mechanics and fresh art style

"Megaman" first came to the consoles in 1987 and has been a popular gaming platform ever since. After eight years of silence, "Megaman" is making a comeback. The game will be returning in 2018 with "Megaman 11." 

Fans of the game are excited with its return. However, a handful reacted skeptically to the new trailer. "Megaman 11" is ditching the game's 2D art style and exchanging it for a 2.5D hand-drawn aesthetic. Moreover, the trailer did a great job of highlighting these aesthetic changes. With the changes underway, a lot of expectations are drawing high for the game. However, it remains unsettled whether the game would satiate the gamers' preference or not.

"Megaman 11's" announcement trailer was uploaded to Megaman's YouTube channel on Dec. 5. Around a minute long, the trailer features the game's new art direction, alongside its level and character design. The game does away with its pixel art, but despite the visual changes, it retained the old concepts of the "Megaman" games. For one, it kept its platforming-like gameplay and retained the combination features as well.

Ever since the game's trailer was released, "Megaman 11," negative comments were rampant. According to Polygon, fans of the "Megaman" franchise have been comparing the art style to "Megaman 9," with a handful joking about how "Megaman 11" would be its spiritual successor.

Criticism aside, "Megaman 11" will be introducing a new gameplay mechanics not found in the previous games. Capcom will be adding precision jumps and will be giving the hero in blue the ability to slide into small spaces and shoot charged bullets from his arm cannon. Considering that "Megaman" is a game that relies a lot on landing accurate jumps and shooting down enemy bosses, it is expected that the changes will impact the entire gameplay.

For the fans and followers of this epic game, it will be coming to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
