Memphis Grizzlies NBA 2015 news: Marc Gasol no reason to leave

For the Memphis Grizzlies, the only thing left is to make Marc Gasol's retention official.

Gasol has played his entire career with the Grizzlies and is not expected to play anywhere else. Though the team has yet to reach the NBA Finals, Memphis has all the tools to get there. With that in mind, why leave a team that is competitive?

The Grizzlies have Zach Randolph and Mike Conley in the lineup, offering Gasol ample support and the chance to be contenders. Possibly reinforcing that triumvirate is the fact that Jeff Green will reportedly pick up his player option ($9.2 million) which all the more makes the future bright for the Grizzlies.

The team does need some talent but mostly on a supporting capacity. With the right recruits who can fill up those loopholes, the Grizzlies can easily catapult themselves among the favorites in the Western conference in no time.

Gasol is one of the big names expected to become free agents come July though the Spaniard hoopsters is expected to re-sign with the ballclub immediately.

There were teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks who planned to try and pry Gasol out of Memphis but from the looks of it, Marc Gasol is in no way interested in suiting up for another ballclub next season.

Hence, the only thing left is for Gasol to agree to the contract that the Grizzlies will be offering him, a decision which many feel is nothing more of a formality.

With the quarter of stars practically assured for next season, the only position that they Grizzlies may have to fill out is a shooting guard.

Aside from the NBA Draft where the Grizzlies will be selecting 25th in the first round, their best chances of considering shooting guards could be during NBA Free Agency in July.

If they land a solid shooting guard, one can just imagine the future holds for the Grizzlies.
