"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's" online multiplayer mode, "Metal Gear Online," has officially launched and can be accessed in "The Phantom Pain" main menu, reports Gamespot. According to the report, Konami has also confirmed that the PC version of the game "remains on course" for its targeted January 2016 release date.

"Metal Gear Online" has been completely redesigned from the ground up compared to its previous iteration seen in "Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots." Players are now given three separate characters - an Infiltrator, a Scout and an Enforcer, all of which play differently and utilize different types of gear and weapons.

Three different game modes are also available: Bounty Hunter, Comm Control and Cloak and Dagger. There is also the new "Forward Operating Base" or FOB, which allows players to utilize microtransactions in order to improve their bases while attempting to tackle new missions and gain new gear.

The gold WU S pistol and AM MRS-4 machine gun, which are included in the Collector's Edition DLC, are also included in "Metal Gear Online."

In order to access "Metal Gear Online," a player must download the latest patch for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain." Once the patch has been downloaded, players can then download the "Metal Gear Online" addition on the online store.

Luckily, the download files take only several minutes to complete, according to VG24/7, and servers are starting to go live. If a player is not able to download the required files, they can access the "Freeplay Mode" while waiting.

DLC content has also become available, most of which comprise new costumes. Some of these costumes include the "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" costume worn by The Boss and EVA, the Snake Tuxedo first introduced in "Metal Gear Solid," and the Snake Jungle Fatigues seen in "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater."
