'Metroid' for Wii U release date: Job listing hints possible release of title

"Metroid" is among the bevy of games that fans hope will be brought to the Wii U soon. While there isn't any concrete detail that Nintendo would actually do such, iDigital Times says there are plenty of reasons it should.

According to the site, the sales of the games and the reception they have received are substantial enough for the company to bring a "Metroid" title to the Wii U. Nintendo of America EVP of Sales and Marketing Scott Moffitt, however, is leaving it to the developers.

"Metroid is really up to our game developers to decide how best to create new and different experiences. This Metroid experience offers a local multiplayer feature that could be a lot of fun for game fans and we hope fans try it out and come to their own conclusions," he told iDigital Times during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015, where "Metroid Prime: Federation Force" was made official.

"I have nothing more to announce about a Metroid game for Wii U but let's be happy for what we have. We've got something and let's experience it and hope fans will enjoy," he said.

Interestingly, a job listing by Retro Studios, one of the developers who have worked on previous games in the franchise, hinted that "Metroid" might be headed to the Wii U. The game studio is in search of a Graphics engineer, an "Individual contributor that develops, writes and debugs code for video game software and tools with a specific focus on game play programming for player, camera, gimmicks and various other game-play systems as required."

While this doesn't directly point to "Metroid's" journey to Wii U, the listing makes it seem like Retro Studios has another Nintendo game in the pipeline.

It is believed that if Nintendo decides to bring the game to the console, there's no better game studio to entrust it with than Retro Studios, who has already proven its expertise in making the sci-fi adventure games
