Rumors have previously mentioned that tech giant Microsoft is gearing up for a major announcement, and one of the things that it will reportedly unveil before the year ends is a follow-up to its wearable tracker. 

Leaks that have sprouted online may prove that there may be truth to the rumors, as images of what appears to be a sleeker, slimmer version of the Microsoft Band have surfaced over the past days. 

According to Spanish website Microsoft Insider, as reported by Ars Technica, the new Band – codenamed Envoy – will be leagues apart from its predecessor, if the speculations prove to be true. With the device appearing to be a sleeker, slimmer version of the original Microsoft Band, the leaked images of the wearable show that the upcoming Band was designed with comfort in mind, having almost the same aesthetics as other fitness trackers. This is unlike the first one, which when launched last year was beset with negative reviews due to its bulky, poor design. 

However, although Microsoft upgraded the band and clasps for the new wearable, it seems that the new Band will retain the same rectangular touchscreen seen on the original one, as well as the two physical buttons also placed in the same location as the last one, at the bottom edge of the device. 

Meanwhile, while the report from the Spanish website does not mention specs details, other observers such as Realty Today guess that the new wearable will be launched with upgraded sensors, and the features would give more updated and accurate fitness stats. 

In addition, while Microsoft did not confirm or deny the existence of the Envoy wearable, speculations say that the new Band will probably make its appearance alongside the new Surface Pro 4 professional-level tablet and at least two new Windows 10 smartphones, at the Microsoft event this Oct. 6.
