A Microsoft evangelist claims that the upcoming augmented reality device by Microsoft, the Hololens, will have a battery that can last up to 5.5 hours.

In a tech presentation captured on video, Microsoft's Bruce Harris talked about the Hololens in a tech event in Tel Aviv. According to Harris, the Hololens will push up to about 2.5 hours of battery life if the device is extensively used, and will last up to 5.5 hours during average device usage.

The Microsoft Hololens is the Redmond-based company's attempt at augmented reality, which should not be mistaken with virtual reality. The growing industry that is VR introduces a completely new landscape to users of devices that allow virtual reality. Augmented reality, on the other hand, adds to the existing reality. For instance, a Pokemon player playing in AR will most likely have Pokemons projected in the house living room.

In an interview with BBC, Microsoft Executive Satya Nadella told said the company is looking to a first quarter of 2016 launch of a developer kit of the Microsoft Hololens. The first version won't be near perfect and will most likely sell for no less than $3,000, so fans aren't completely sold out to getting the first model.

However, if Microsoft sticks to their schedules, the company will be the first organization ever to create a successfully running hologram system.

One of the challenges that Hololens creators continue to battle with is the field of view of the device. Much like the Microsoft Kinect, the Hololens has a limited field of view, but the company stresses that this is a temporary situation.

"I think you're never going to get to full peripheral field of view, but certainly the hardware we have the field of view isn't exactly final. But I wouldn't say it's going to be hugely noticeably different either," Microsoft executive for Hololens and Kinect Kudo Tsunoda said about the Hololens.

Users can expect the Microsoft Hololens to come out to the general public in the coming months.
