Microsoft will reportedly lift the covers off the long-rumored Microsoft Surface Phone during the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin this September.

As per reports, the Redmond-based company is delaying the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 until next year so that it can focus on the handset, which will be the first smartphone from Microsoft outside the Lumia family.

The Microsoft Surface Phone will purportedly be designed as a business-centric device with computer-like power. This will be made possible with the Intel Atom x3 processor supposedly under its hood and 6GB to 8GB RAM.

In line with this, the Microsoft Surface Phone is rumored to offer storage spaces of up to 256GB and 500GB, although media outlets report that 32GB and 64GB variants will be made available.

The Microsoft Surface Phone is also expected to feature an 8MP Zeiss Wide Angle lens on the front and a 21MP PureView shooter on the back. This camera combo should allow for amazing photos, videos and selfies.

The flagship is said to sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and Windows 10 will be pre-installed on it. The software should make it possible for Microsoft to integrate iris scanning technology on the device.

Microsoft is expected to make multi-tasking a breeze in this device, thus the powerful innards. The tech giant is also compelled to step up, with HP coming up with a powerful Windows 10 phone in the form of the Elite X3.

With an impressive specs sheet, the estimated price of the base model of the Microsoft Surface Phone is $999. Such a huge price tag may deflect users from buying the device and will force them to look somewhere else.

But until Microsoft itself makes it all official, fans will have to stay put for Microsoft Surface Phone developments. For now, the only thing certain is that the tech titan is cooking something up in the mobile department.
