Surface Pro 3 vs Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro: Battle of the 'laplets'

In the age of tablets, the era of laptops is starting to dim. But thanks to Microsoft and Lenovo, laptops are given a new lease in life after these tech giants decided to come up with the new line of products that merge the function and power of laptops with the portability of tablets.

Microsoft released the thinner but larger version of the Surface Pro "laplet" last June 20, 2014. Prior to the release of the Surface Pro 3, rumors went around about the poor sales of the Surface line, leading to speculations that Microsoft would shut it down completely. However, the release of the new device proved that the rumors were not true.

On the other hand, the much awaited Yoga 3 Pro brings Lenovo back into the laptop-tablet hybrid game. It basically has the same features as the existing Yoga 2 Pro, but the new product has a thinner and lighter body. Also, the new multi-function hinge built specially for the new laplet is something that users need to watch out for.

But which one of these two laptop-tablet hybrids is worthy of consumers' hard-earned money?  Here is a comparison between the two devices:

Size, Weight, and Screen

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 comes in an 11.5 x 7.93 x 0.36 -inch body and weighs 1.76 lbs. It also has a 12-inch Clear Type Full HD display screen with 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution. On the other hand, Lenovo's Yoga 3 Pro will have an 11.8 x 9 x 0.5 body and will weigh 2.6 lbs. The screen will have a QHD+ 3200 x 1800 IPS display that looks good in any angle.
