Game developer Monolith has revealed plans of introducing an endless mode to the recently released action adventure game "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War." The new mode would be included in a future downloadable content (DLC) for the game.

The staff from Monolith revealed the plans during a livestream on Twitch TV. In the video, the team said that an endless fortress defense mode would be included in the very first tribe DLC.

The endless mode will be an extension of the Shadow Wars, which serves as a lengthy end-game sequence for the game. It is a sort of a tower defense mode wherein the player's forces need to defend against waves of enemies laying siege on their fortresses.

In this sequence, the Orc tribes launch counterattacks against forces of the protagonist. The player will need to hold control points against the oncoming horde of orcs, powerful orc captains, and war chiefs.

If the player fails to defend a fortress, he or she will need to retake it from the Orcs. After successfully defending from the attacks, the player finally gets its real ending.

While many players did not like the terrible grind needed to get to the ending of the game, still many other appreciated the challenge that the Shadow Wars brought to the game. Since the game was launched last week, more players called for an endless mode for the tower defense mechanic the game has introduced.

Once the Infinite Shadow Wars is rolled out, players will be able to engage in the exciting tower defense mode and carry it on indefinitely, depending on their skill and strategy with which they defend the Orc attacks.

Infinite Shadow Wars will be part of the Slaughter Tribe DLC, the first for the "Middle-Earth" sequel. Monolith has not released a specific date of release for the update.
