Earlier this week, it was reported that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth appeared to have rekindled their romance after the pair was spotted being affectionate with each other at the Falls Music & Arts Festival in Australia. While the couple has yet to confirm if they are back together, a new report says that the "Wrecking Ball" recently skipped a performance to spend more time with the "Hunger Games" star in his hometown.

According to E! Online, the singer was expected to perform at a party for the film "Freeheld" on Wednesday, Jan. 6. Cyrus was reportedly set to perform songwriter Linda Perry's theme for the film, but Perry announced at the party that the 23-year-old could not make it because she was still in Australia.

It has been speculated that the on-off couple are giving their relationship another try after Cyrus was photographed spending time with Hemsworth and his family over the New Year holiday. A source told People magazine that the two have been staying at the home of Hemsworth's brother, Chris, and his wife Elsa Pataky in Byron Bay, Australia.

On Monday, Jan. 4, Cyrus was photographed with Pataky. The photo was uploaded to the actress's Instagram account and captioned, "I love people I can be crazy with!"

Prior to Pataky's Instagram picture, fans of the couple have taken to Instagram to share pictures of Cyurs and Liam at the music festival and at a restaurant in Byron Bay.

A source told People that even after the couple broke up two years ago, Cyrus "never got over Liam."

"Despite them constantly fighting before the split, Miley always said Liam is the love of her life," said the source.

Cyrus and Hemsworth met on the set of 2010's "The Last Song" and got engaged in June 2012. They ended their engagement in September 2013. Reps for the two have yet to comment on the reconciliation rumors.
