The huge graphics update for "Minecraft" will not be happening this year, as it has been delayed to sometime in 2018.

Mojang and Microsoft have delayed the launch of the Super Duper Graphics pack, along with the update that would allow cross platform multiplayer on the Nintendo Switch. Both updates were supposed to be released this year, but now "Minecraft" is saying that they will be coming in 2018. An exact date has not been identified.

The team behind "Minecraft" did not provide details on why the updates are getting delayed, but it is assumed that the new features of the huge updates are not yet completed.

Once the Nintendo Switch cross platform multiplayer update gets released, "Minecraft" players using PC, Xbox One, mobile, and Switch will be able to play the game together.

Although the updates are getting delayed, "Minecraft" players will be getting new content and features soon in The Update Aquatic. With this update, the game will refine water and underwater-based adventures.

The update will also add new physics involving the tricky behavior of water, like buoyancy. It will also add corals, dolphins, various types of fishes and other underwater creatures.

With The Update Aquatic, players will also be able to dive underwater and explore shipwrecks in search of treasures and other aquatic loot.

In order to protect themselves in the new environment, players will also be getting a new water-themed weapon, the trident. The weapon appears to be a mystical one will have additional powers depending on its enchantment.

"Not only can this weapon be thrown at enemies and used in close-combat, it can also be enchanted for ace tactical advantages," said Tom Stone, creative communications assistant at Mojang. "The Loyalty enchantment will make it come back to you even after you've thrown it, while enchantments like Impaler and Slipstream Dash will... well, we'll let you use your imagination!"
