'Minecraft' PS4, Xbox One edition: What's new, prices and upgrades

During the E3 2014, a showdown of the best upcoming games was seen. But "Minecraft" for PS4 was quite discreet causing it to get less attention from the gaming world.

"Minecraft: PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition" will be launched this year. The PS4 version has already released a trailer last Tuesday and some screenshots for the Xbox one version.

Not much is new for the "Minecraft: PS4 Edition" but the trailer shows a few things that will be available once the game is released. Well, there's the four-player split screen and the Playstation Texture Pack. The PS texture pack will include characters from "Uncharted," " Ratchet and Clank," and from other PS games as well. As for the screenshots of the "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition," there's not much revealing information too.

However, one good news is that the "Minecraft: PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition" will have bigger worlds. The developer from 4J studios describe the worlds as "36 times" larger than the worlds in the previous editions. Yet, the worlds are not infinite.

Everyone is pretty familiar with the game, so there's really no need for dramatics. Plus, there are no big announcements and additions for the new versions anyway.

The release date for the PS4 Edition, Xbox One Edition and PS Vita Edition will be this August. They retail at $19.99. For players who already have a PS3 edition, they can get a free PS Vita version. Also, they can add $5 to upgrade to a PS4 edition. As for those who own Xbox 360 editions, they can also upgrade to the Xbox One edition for $5.

What about transferring worlds and game packs? This is no problem because console owners can easily transfer worlds to the new edition. This goes the same for mash-up, skin and texture packs.
