4J Studios recently updated Minecraft fans with a series of Twitter posts, saying that the highly-anticipated game is expanding to include other next-gen gaming consoles before being officially released to the public. A new development could help ease fans' anticipation for the game as Doctor Who will reportedly find his way to Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions very soon.

The new pack will be made available starting September. According to reports, the twelfth Doctor played by Peter Capaldi, Time Lord's assistant Clara Oswald (portrayed by Jenna Louise Coleman), as well as the Doctor's long time nemesis, the Daleks, will be seen in the pack. BBC also reported that more Doctor Who themed Minecraft packs will also be released in the future.

On the show's official website, the Digital Entertainment and Games Director of BBC Worldwide UK Rikesh Desai posted a statement. It said, "We're constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans. Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we've created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft."

However, there are confirmed reports saying that the Minecraft Doctor Who pack will not be able to reach the other platforms like PlayStation 4 and PS Vita because of the contract that binds BBC with Microsoft. It means that only Xbox users can enjoy the Time Lord's appearances in the iconic Minecraft universe.

On the other hand, the supposed release date for the latest versions of Minecraft on Sony's PlayStation 4, PS Vita, as well as Xbox One has been delayed because of necessary bug fixes. The latest updates assume that these versions will be released sometime in September this year if they do not find any more problems with the games.
