Game developer Mojang recently revealed that the upcoming Minecraft 0.12.1 update for "Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition" Beta and "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" will finally enable players to enjoy cross-play support. This update will allow players to have more fun with their friends while exploring the worlds they have created. 

In the official Xbox website , Microsoft revealed that several gamers can enjoy playing cross-platform multiplayer through a local network shared between the two editions. 

"The Windows 10 Edition Beta also now allows up to five friends play together over Xbox Live. And no matter what edition you're playing, you'll be able to buff up your equipment with special effects from enchanting tables," the announcement reads.

The new update can also be considered as the biggest update for the Pocket Edition of the best-selling sandbox adventure puzzle game since it will come with a lot of features included in the wish lists of many "Minecraft" players using their mobile devices. These include redesigned touch controls, enhanced controller support, as well as the highly-improved controller mapping screen. The update will also come with similar improved weather effects like directional rain and snow accumulation that are already being enjoyed by those who are using the game's Windows 10 Edition Beta. 

"Minecraft Windows 10 Edition" caters to devices that come with an installed Windows 10 operating system. But those who already have the PC edition of the game can simply download the Windows 10 edition from the Windows Store for free using their Mojang accounts. However, those who are using other devices must shell out $10. 

On the other hand, "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" can be downloaded from iTunes, Google Play, and Windows Store for iOS, Android and Windows phones, respectively, for just $6.99 for each individual game platform. 

Minecraft 0.12.1 was slated to be released on Sept. 8 but it had to be postponed by Mojang since Android and iOS have yet to be prepared for its content. Fans can expect to hear the final release date in the coming days.
