Workers at a funeral home in China had the biggest shock of their lives when a tiny premature baby boy declared dead the day before and was about to be cremated suddenly cried inside the morgue's refrigerated cadaver compartment.

One-month-old An An was earlier pronounced dead by his doctor in Zhejiang, China, after his heart stopped beating, according to a LifeSiteNews report last week.

After the hospital issued An An's death certificate, his father, Lu took him to the morgue and ask that his son be cremated the next morning.

The tiny body was stored for the night in the morgue's refrigerated storage unit, which maintains temperatures as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

But when morning came 15 hours later, the funeral home workers had the fright of their lives when the "dead" infant suddenly started crying. One worker immediately pulled An An out of the refrigerator and contacted his father.

An An's pediatrician, Dr. Chen Shuanghua was stunned beyond belief. "Having been a paediatrician for over 20 years, I can't really understand how this miracle happened," he said.

An An was born at only seven months' gestation on Jan. 8 in Zhejiang, a coastal province in southeastern China. Doctors kept him in the hospital for specialised preemie care.

However, the doctors were forced to release the baby after his father insisted on taking An An home for the Chinese new year.

After only two days at home, An An's skin became discoloured, and Lu hurriedly took him back to the hospital.

But it was too late. When the doctors examined An An, they found he had no more heartbeat and had stopped breathing, prompting them to declare the baby dead.

Hospital workers now call little An An a "miracle child." He is now in an incubator and is expected to be kept under constant hospital care for three weeks.
