"Monster Hunter World" is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Jan. 26, 2018. It is not the only surprise for fans of the franchise. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto revealed that "Monster Hunter World" would be getting post-launch updates and new monsters — all of this, would be coming to players worldwide as a free downloadable content (DLC).

Tsujimoto confirmed the details during the PlayStation Experience 2017 live stream. Tsujimoto told Famitsu about the decision. Additionally, Gematsu reported that Tsujimoto said that they would be adding new monsters and other post-launch DLC in hopes of keeping players interested for a long time to come.

Specific details regarding the new monsters are not yet released. However, several trailers detailing a handful of the DLC such as the Third Fleet and Megaman content have already been revealed.

The Third Fleet trailer was uploaded to Monster Hunter's YouTube channel on Dec. 8. The trailer gives players a sneak peek of the different map locations as well as information regarding the characters, monsters, and level designs. The Mega Man collaboration trailer was also released on Dec. 8. The Mega Man collaboration trailer featured new Mega Man-themed monster hunter gear as a nod to "Mega Man's" 30th anniversary.

"Monster Hunter" entered its beta testing period earlier in Dec. 9.

Players got to test out the game's new mechanics. While still a "Monster Hunter" game, "Monster Hunter World" underwent several changes to ensure it would run better and be a more player friendly game. Third-person shooting controls were retooled to work more efficiently —  scout files were added to the game, and the game even added a new tracking system that would make it easier for players to find monsters.

The new tracking system will also allow players to check whether or not they are going in the right direction. It was added to help improve the gameplay and make sure tracking does not end up too tedious. "Monster Hunter World" aims to be the ultimate hunting experience.
