'Mortal Kombat X' DLC character news: Co-creator implies possible inclusion of Meat

"Mortal Kombat X" co-creator Ed Boon just loves dropping hints about the ever growing roster of the chartbusting fighting game. Boon, via his Twitter, did it again by "forecasting" Meat's arrival in the bloody arena of the latest iteration of the time-withstanding franchise.

The gif Boon attached to his tweet is from the 1977 science fiction horror film titled "The Incredible Melting Man." Needless to say, the character in the gif — the astronaut whose appearance was altered after a star-crossed space voyage — looks a lot like Meat.

The fighter, as hardened fans of the series know, was first introduced in "Mortal Kombat 4" back in 1997 as a hidden character. The fighter was made into a lab rat by sorcerer Shang Tsung and escaped before the dreadful experiment was completed, which explains his appearance.

The shape-shifting warrior has cleavers for a weapon and "Mortal Kombat X" could use a character like him. However, the way Boon said it feels like Meat will only be included in "Mortal Kombat X" if there was a Kombat Pack 2, which, for now, is nonexistent.

Some fans believe that it is Boon's subtle way of informing gamers that a Kombat Pack 2 may be in the offing. Others think that this is just Boon having fun. Whether or not Meat will actually make it to the game, only time will tell.

The "Mortal Kombat X" co-creator also hinted at the possibility of Rain gracing the game shortly after a modder was able to play the yet unplayable character, along with Sindel and Baraka, in the PC version of the title.

For now, "Mortal Kombat X" players can turn their attention to the Edenian fighter Tanya, who will be available to purchase via the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace and Steam for $4.99 starting June 9. Those who have the Tanya character DLC pack will be able to battle as the warrior and pull off what many think are the craziest Brutalities to date. They will also enjoy skins for Kano, Sonya, and Liu Kang.
