This week's The Game Awards event will reportedly be a must-see viewing for "Mortal Kombat X" players.

Recently, "Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon teased that the upcoming awards show could possibly be the setting for an important character reveal, Gamespot reported. Boon revealed the news on Twitter, although he did not reveal much other than that.

News of more characters coming to "Mortal Kombat X" was first revealed back in September. The new characters will be available as parts of the second Kombat Pack downloadable content (DLC) coming to the game. A specific release date for the second Kombat Pack has not been announced, although fans can reportedly expect it to arrive during the first half of next year.

The question now shifts to exactly who the new characters might be, and on this front, Boon has remained completely silent.

Still, even with the lack of details from Boon himself, fans have not stopped speculating about who might be included in Kombat Pack 2.

Some fans have predicted that the Joker from "Batman" could be a possibility, while some have also mentioned the name of Indiana Jones. Seeing as how there will four new characters added to "Mortal Kombat X," one fan even mentioned the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a possibility, although Boon has shot this suggestion down.

According to Design and Trend, most fans would much rather have characters already part of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise as the new additions. Characters such as Baraka, Rain, and Sindel are already in the game as non-player characters (NPCs) and they would make logical additions as completely playable combatants.

Aside from new characters, Kombat Pack 2 is also expected to introduce new skins and one new stage to "Mortal Kombat X," although it's unclear if those will also be revealed at The Game Awards.
