Barely a week after "Mortal Kombat X" was released, the newest installment in the "Mortal Kombat" series gets its first patch with a host of new goodies for hardcore fans.

In the latest 1.02 patch, most of the improvements are focused on characters, with different skins and skill updates. There are also specific move changes. For example, throws, either regular ones or command grabs, will sometimes no longer connect on a grounded Kombatant after a counter hit. This was done to offer a more challenging fight even for beginners.

Changes were also made with the character's signature moves. Shinnok can now control the location of a stolen Goro Stomp. Meanwhile, for Sub-Zero (Grandmaster), combos for grounded opponents attacked and frozen by the Ice Klone skill will now scale properly. The Takedas also have additional improvements: Ronin now has the Quick Kall move, where a dropped blade returns without attacking; and Shirai Ryu can now teleport to the other side with the Air Shirai Ryu Port move.

In terms of freebies, Jason Vorhees is now a playable character with the patch update, and there are a host of new costume skins for different Kombatants, including the classic skin for Sub-Zero. Also, for PC players, they will have 10,000 Koins redeemed at the next game start-up, a way to compensate for reported Steam issues when the game launched.

Additionally, NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon tweeted performance improvements for graphics on the PC version.

Said Boon, "Performance much better after patch. Can now play at 1440p 60fps GTX780 full setting."

"Mortal Kombat X" debuted on April 14, and was launched for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Meanwhile, the older-gen versions of the game for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are delayed and are expected to arrive this summer.
