Owners of the second generation Moto X and the original Google Play Edition (GPE) Moto G get the happiest news about Android 5.0 Lollipop as they are the first to enjoy the sweet update on their Motorola handsets. On Nov. 24, Verizon users of the 2014 edition of the Moto X received the update. Those in Brazil and Mexico had Lollipop onboard their first generation GPE Moto G on Dec. 12. As per IB Times, the newer Pure Edition Moto X, U.S. GSM Moto G 2014, and the Global GSM retail version of the second generation Moto G also got a taste of the new operating system last month.

Motorola has shared the change logs on the second generation Moto G and Moto X regarding the handsets' upgrade to Lollipop. The new software has been boasting its new Material Design, having the smartphones dolled up with beautiful animations and spanking new visuals. In addition, a notifications user interface is displayed on the lock and home screen that allows users to arrange their "Priorities" with the available tools that go with it. Add to that the Ambient Display that puts notifications on view even with the full display is inactive. Interruptions and Downtime settings are also fired up in the Lollipop-decorated handsets, with the latter amalgamated with Motorola Assist. The spruced up "Overview" area had "Recents" list of applications tossed out the window. Also, a trip to the Quick Settings will have users easily activate the Built-in Flashlight control.

Android Lollipop has some enhancements for security. First is having the guest user account share the handsets without exposing private data. A new and helpful feature will also allow owners to regulate children's access to the phone and the apps by pinning a view or the specific app. A feature called the Android Smart Lock facilitates the connectivity of the handsets to devices like Moto 360 and a Bluetooth car safely and securely. In terms of battery life, Lollipop brings battery management tools and a power saving mode to improve the Lollipop-laden handsets.
