"Mr. Robot" is all geared up toward its second season, but still, not much has been shared about what to expect when the show returns.

But at the recent Television Critics Association press tour, the "Mr. Robot" team assembled to talk about the show and the upcoming season. Creator Sam Esmail also shared some important bits about season 2.

According to Esmail, the new season will have more backstory, as Elliot (Rami Malek) has now realized that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) is not real.

"It really is about Elliott trying to reconcile what this means in seeing Mr. Robot. The series is filling in the blanks of the past and the present of this character," he said, as reported in Entertainment Weekly.

Esmail also added that Elliot will become more aware that he is only having delusions.

The most intriguing part of the press tour was when Esmail revealed that there are still things back in season 1 that were actually not real — and not even the cast members know about it.

"Mr. Robot" recently bagged two awards at the Golden Globe Awards. Slater wont Best Supporting Actor for his titular character and the series won Best Television Drama. Season two will be composed of 10 episodes, and according to Vulture, Esmail and the team in the writers' room are almost done with the storylines.

"I just have a very distinct visual style, and it's actually harder for me to collaborate when it comes to that aspect of the show," Esmail said, in reference to him directing all the episodes.

Other than the hints dropped by the creator, he also revealed that B.D. Wong will be back to reprise his interesting role as the transgender Whiterose.

"He was so amazing in the first season," the creator described, adding that it would be "stupid" of him if he won't let Wong appear again in season 2. However, Esmail made it clear that the character will be used "sparingly."

An exact release date for the premiere of "Mr. Robot" season 2 has yet to be announced.
