With season 1 ending on a high note, fans are expecting to see more from the American drama-thriller, "Mr. Robot." Unfortunately, they might have to wait until the middle of next year to see more of the show.

"Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail did a wonderful job on ending season 1, which mainly focused on its main character, Elliot, played by Rami Malek. That is why when the White Rose entered after the closing credits to meet with the top honchos of Evil Corp., audiences got a wonderful surprise.

Ismail himself wasn't originally sure if he wanted the season to end the way it did, but the ending, according to him paves the way for the start of the next season.

He said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "I've always said that the first season was the first act of my feature, so this is what I meant. I wanted the story of Mr. Robot to be Elliot actually accomplishing his goal, setting the world into chaos."

Ismail continued to explain the purpose why he ended season 1 with the White Rose.

"To me, that canvas was something I was interested in exploring, so, for me, that's what that last scene sets up. We're about to watch Rome burn. That's the world Elliot's going to enter next season," said Ismail. 

Meanwhile, critics have lauded the show for its realistic portrayal of cyber issues. Rotten Tomatoes calls it "a suspenseful cyber-thriller with timely stories and an intriguing, provocative premise."

"Mr. Robot" participates in this year's New York Comic Con, giving fans of the show an opportunity to pry more details from the cast themselves.

Cast members Malek, Christian Slater (Mr. Robot), Carly Chaikin (Darlene), Portia Doubleday (Angela) and Martin Wallström (Tyrell) appeared at the New York Comic Con yesterday, Oct. 9, and had a roundtable, a viewing, and a panel discussion along with "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail.

"Mr. Robot" is expected to return to USA Network in 2016.
