‘My faith is everything to me,’ says Bristol Palin

She has her fair share of critics, but Bristol Palin hopes people will see the “real” her when her new reality TV series premieres next week.

The 21-year-old has allowed cameras to track her and her three-year-old son, Tripp, for the new programme, Life’s A Tripp, debuting on the US network Lifetime on 19 June.

Speaking to Good Morning America, the single mum said: “I think I have tough skin and I know that God is on my side and my faith is everything to me.

“It’s just the root of my life and my family’s life and I think it will do well.”

Aware that not everyone has something positive to say about her, she shrugged off the criticism.

“When people are talking poorly about me, I think it just gives me more motivation to want to do more and want to speak up even louder and they’re just not doing themselves well by doing that.

“I think the people who don’t like me, I’m not trying to change their opinion on it, but it’s going to be a good show.”

Palin’s last stint in front of the cameras was as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. She admitted that she never really got used to having the cameras around her all the time for her own show, but it didn’t seem to bother Tripp.

“He didn’t care if the cameras were there or not. He’s still going to be rowdy, he’s still going to be a little terror, but it was fun. It was a lot of fun.”

Tripp is Palin’s son to ex-boyfriend Levi Johnson, who is expecting a baby girl with his new girlfriend Sunny Oglesby.

Palin recently complained that Johnson hardly spends any time with his son.

She told In Touch magazine: “He’s seen Tripp twice in the past four months. He once went an entire year without seeing him at all.”

Johnson has claimed that the Palin family have prevented him from accessing his son.

Palin told the magazine: “I wish Levi would be like, ‘Hey Bristol, can I have Tripp for the weekend?’. I would be so willing and glad to do that. He continues to lie.”
