"Narcos" season 2 release date reports have been hinting that the hit Pablo Escobar drama will premiere in August, one year after the successful freshman season of the series aired. Netflix, however, is yet to make this official.

The first season of the show ran for 10 episodes, which the streaming giant dropped in Aug. 28 last year. These installments are still available on Netflix for fans to binge-watch as they wait for Wagner Moura to return as the Colombian drug lord.

Production for "Narcos" season 2 has commenced with the cast and crew filming in Bogota, Colombia. Plot details remain under wraps at the moment but with the promise that the series is following Escobar's life faithfully, it would be easy to determine what to expect in the new season.

"Narcos" season 2 plot rumors hint that DEA agent Steve Murphy will bring his A-game in bringing down Escobar's cartel. He really should draw out the big guns this time by the end of the first season, Escobar is running free again.

This freedom won't be long nonetheless. In real life, Escobar was only alive for 18 months after fleeing prison. "Narcos" season 1 had Moura's character ending his incarceration early. That being said, it won't be long before Escobar bites the dust.

The first season of the series followed 15 years of Escobar's life. If Netflix takes steps as big as it took in the freshman run, Escobar's death will likely take place in "Narcos" season 2, which means that the series will wrap up in the next 10 episodes.

To make "Narcos" last than it should be, however, media outlets suggest that the streaming giant make an anthology out of it, wherein drug lords will be the center of the stories.

As for spreading 18 months of Escobar's life in 10 episodes for "Narcos" season 2, it looks like Netflix will have to slow the pacing down a bit.
