Since "Narcos" is a retelling of the life of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura), with 15 years of his life covered in the first season, he doesn't have much time left.

The social media accounts (may it be Facebook or Twitter) for the show do not seem to have any problem "spoiling" fans of the lead character's fate, claiming that "history is the biggest spoiler."

They posted images that bluntly declare the drug lord's fate. The words "Pablo dies" are written in bold white letters on a pitch black background, giving fans a heads up of what happens in "Narcos" season 2.

The trailer for "Narcos" season 2, which announced the Sept. 2 premiere of the new season, also served as a tombstone, where it flashed Escobar's date of birth (Dec. 1, 1949) and death (Dec. 2, 1993).

Escobar's death was inevitable for the show and the people behind "Narcos" are not keen on changing history just to keep the kingpin alive for more seasons.

Last month, Escobar's death scene to be featured in "Narcos" season 2 was filmed in painstaking detail. It will certainly be one of the most awaited and most exciting moments of the second season.

"Narcos" season 2 will indeed mark the death of Escobar, which means that the series will be in need of a new protagonist or at least a new story to tell in future seasons, should there be any.

It is said that "Narcos" will continue to tackle topics regarding drugs. Rumor has it that the cartel that rises to power following Escobar's death will be a central storyline after "Narcos" season 2.

As for the upcoming season, fans can expect new characters. One of whom might end up being a key personality in future seasons of the Netflix hit.

"Narcos" season 2 premieres Sept. 2 on Netflix.
