The main "Naruto" manga series ended its run last Nov. 10, 2014 and revealed a new generation of ninjas. Fans clamoring for a sequel will get exactly what they want because on April 27, a spin-off reportedly titled "Naruto Gaiden: Nanadaime Hokage to Akairo no Hanatsuzuki" will officially launch.

The title translates to "Naruto Spin-off: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring Month." Its title makes sense for the announced release date because "Hanatsuzuki" or "Spring Month" falls roughly between March and May, according to AnimeNewsNetwork. 

The 700th and final chapter of the original series revealed a new generation, mostly the children of the series' main characters, and it appears that they will be the new focus of the spin-off series. According to iDigitalTimes, it will center primarily on Bolt, Naruto and Hinata's son who was briefly shown in the last issue of the original manga series. Series creator Masashi Kishimoto also stated that Sasuke's daughter Sarada would be featured as well. 

Bolt will also be making an appearance in the upcoming film "Boruto – Naruto the Movie," a sequel to "The Last: Naruto the Movie." He and other characters from the two films are also expected to make an appearance in the upcoming next-gen fighting game, "Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4." 

The new manga series has only been announced as a limited mini-series as a part of Kishimoto's "new budding Konoha story" but it is possible that he could be working on more spin-off projects before leaving the "Naruto" universe behind completely. 

"Naruto" is a serialized manga that began publication in 1997. It has gone on for 15 years and ended its run with 700 chapters, 72 volumes, 220 on-going episodes, and 10 films with "Boruto – Naruto the Movie" being its 11th thus far. 

The success of the mini-series has fans speculating if it could open the doors for future spin-offs centering around different characters.
