NBA 2015 free agent rumors: Could Jeremy Lin and Mike D'Antoni reunite in Denver?

Jeremy Lin is someone expected to become a free-agent soon with the Lakers expected to cut him due to team chemistry and salary issues. The man who once became famous for Linsanity has no idea where he may eventually end up though Denver sounds like a winner.

Not that the Nuggets may have the money to offer but the fact that former coach Mike D'Antoni could be inheriting the head coaching position soon. The Nuggets are currently without a head coach after firing Brian Shaw and D'Antoni is being mentioned as a possible name to take over the head coaching reins.

So if D'Antoni does eventually become the head coach, will Lin follow suit? The idea is not far from happening.

For Lin, it is all about hooking up with a team where he can fit in. He thought that the Lakers would be that team but disagreements with Kobe Bryant and coach Byron Scott put a sour note to all that. And now with a hefty paycheck, the Lakers are practically certain of cutting their ties with the former Harvard University standout.

It will be recalled the D'Antoni was somehow responsible for the rise of Lin. This was in 2011-12 when the tandem surprised many. Lin was obviously comfortable with D'Antoni's pick-and-roll system, something that catapulted Lin to fame.

But can the tandem do that once more with the Denver Nuggets (if ever)?

If Lin would consider the Nuggets, he may have to compete with Ty Lawson for the point guard position. If not, he can always move to the two-guard position since it is a position that seems pretty much lacking in talent. And we all know that Lin does have his repertoire of offensive weapons to fit into that position.

The idea does seem intriguing but before all that, it will depend on whether D'Antoni does end up being named the Nuggets' head coach. If not for Denver then maybe some other team.

Lin is expected to get some offers from former suitors like the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers. Could the Denver Nuggets join the mix?
