NBA trade rumors 2015: Derrick Rose begging off from USA Basketball?

Derrick Rose has been the subject of various trade rumors, mostly tied up with his alleged feud rising star Jimmy Butler.

Other than that, a lot of attention has been given to his bill of health.

After sitting out for most of the past two seasons, Rose is entering training camp healthy for the first time. If all goes well, he may even get as far as starting the season on the regular roster and much of this can be achieved if he takes some added time out rather than engage in other basketball-related activities.

This is of course with reference to Team USA's minicamp which will be held in Las Vegas this month. Rose has the option to join organized basketball once again or sit it out and allow other guards to take his spot.

Among the guards expected to slug it out for a possible slot include Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, John Wall and maybe even Damian Lillard. Kyrie Irving could be another face but seeing that the Cleveland guard is still on the mend, he could likely pass off joining camp this year.

With those names to compete with, Rose could understandably pass off and perhaps get the needed time out. After consecutive knee operations that kept him sidelined until the 2015-16 NBA playoffs, the added respite could work to his advantage.

According to an ESPN report, Rose is reportedly torn on whether to join camp or not. If he doesn't show, it may likely not be a big deal considering the haunting seasons that saw him spend more time on the sidelines rather than on the hardwood.

Rose's exclusion shouldn't be a big deal for Team USA since director Jerry Colangelo did send out invitations to players who are required to attend camp even if they can't play.

On that note, could Rose at least show up like Kevin Durant or Kevin Love?
