Trade rumors about National Basketball Association (NBA) have been scarce lately, but there are still some that persist even though they are unlikely to happen. One of those is the supposed trade for New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis.

Davis is supposedly the target of Golden State Warriors.

This was detailed in a blog post in The Athletic, which suggests that the 24-year old NBA star will be traded into the Golden State Warriors roster. It should be noted that Davis' contract with New Orleans Pelicans is until 2021, although he can opt out in the summer of 2020 if he so chooses.

If Davis will be traded in for the Golden State Warriors, it is likely that the team will have to give up Draymond Green and Klay Thompson in return

However, Ringer notes that this story is unlikely because of several reasons. One of them is that it is unlikely that the Warriors will give up both Thompson and Green. These two are key players for the team, and while they may have to let go of the two at some point down the line, it might not happen this soon.

Still, it does seem a great deal for Warriors if they have Davis, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry in one team.

In addition to these, the New Orleans Pelicans may want to keep a player for themselves. It is rumored that the Pelicans are eyeing to re-sign Demarcus Cousins for their team. This one, at least, is already likely to happen, and the reasons are apparent this season.

One cannot blame the Pelicans' interest. After, all Cousins averages 25 points per game this season and consistently gives a good performance for the Pelicans.

Readers are reminded that these are just trade rumors for this season of the NBA.
