Kensi and Deeks will be taking care of the romance side of "NCIS: LA" season 7. However, the couple won't do it entirely alone as Eric and Nell's love affair won't completely be on the backburner. This is what showrunner Shane Brenna told TV Line.

"We certainly see more of that relationship," he said. "It's obviously not as developed as Kensi and Deeks' relationship, but there's definitely more fun to be had there." 

As for the individual development of the characters, Brenna had something to say about Eric's. The showrunner revealed that Eric will acquire a new skill that not everyone wouldn't want him having.

"Sam is going to give Eric weapons training," he said. "For those who have watched from the beginning, you realize this is fraught with danger — for everyone!" 

In other related news, fans are waiting for the crossover between "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA," which will happen in an episode of the latter to be aired on Oct. 19. Agent Tony DiNozzo will be headed to Los Angeles, and actor Michael Weatherly said his journey will be quite droll. 

"There's a hilarious conceit for my presence which is that this guy who is a witness to some scurrilous wrongdoing is being brought back from Singapore," the actor told Entertainment Weekly. "He disappears and we have to find him in L.A. He keeps disappearing." 

This unfortunate case will lead DiNozzo working with Deeks, which is something fans and Eric Christian Olsen, who plays the latter, have been waiting for. In an interview with TV Line, Olsen admired Weatherly's talent in acting and his versatility that allows him to be effective in both drama and comedy. 

"NCIS: LA" season 7 will premiere on Sept. 21 with the episode titled "Active Measures."
