New photos from the upcoming season 7 premiere of "NCIS: Los Angeles" have been released, and it looks like one of the agents will be going solo on a secret mission which will put him in a bind with the rest of the team.

In photos released by CBS to TVLine, it appears that Callen (Chris O'Donnell) is off on his own as he investigates something that has been weighing on his mind. Showrunner Shane Brennan told TVLine that as a result of his covert operation, Callen will "find himself in a very difficult situation with Hetty (Linda Hunt) and Sam (LL Cool J) because he's not telling them what he's got himself caught up in."

The website reports that there will be a time jump and the new season will pick up three months after the season 6 finale. Last season, Hetty told Callen that his father is dead and at this point, it is unclear whether Callen's secret mission has something to do with his father.

Brennan said that Callen's reason for going on the rogue op will be revealed in the episode titled "Active Measures." The showrunner added that the revelation will have a "fairly major impact" halfway through the season, which will be featured in a double episode.

The past three months must have had an effect on Callen, as in the pictures shared on the website, the agent is seen sporting a very different look. A dark figure is seen in the background as Callen walks to an unknown destination. Another photo shows Hetty talking to Callen in a parking lot. Could she be clued in as to what he's up to?

Brennan revealed that Callen's actions will be very difficult for Hetty. He said, "For Hetty, who took this young man under her wing...it's very painful."

Another photo shows the entire team, minus Callen, walking as if they're searching for someone. Actress Daniela Ruah, who plays Kensi, told TVLine that this time, Callen has gone "completely rogue," which results to the NCIS sending out the whole team to "bring him back at any cost."

"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 7 premieres on Monday, Sept. 21 on CBS.
