'NCIS' season 13 spoilers, casting news: '24' star Sarah Clarke joins team as agent Tess Monroe

Sarah Clarke will join the team as FBI Special Agent Tess Monroe in the upcoming episodes of 'NCIS' season 13CBS

Michael Weatherly's departure from his role as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo will leave a vacant spot on the team. But "24" alum Sarah Clarke will fill his place before the end of "NCIS" season 13

Clarke, who portrayed the remarkable role of the ruthless traitor Nina Myers on "24," will join the "NCIS" cast as FBI Special Agent Tess Monroe toward the end of the current season.

TVLine revealed back in January that the long-running police procedural drama was looking for an actress who would play the role of a "quick-witted, tough and shrewd agent."

According to the publication's recent report, Tess is a transferring agent from New York City. She has been divorced several times but does not have any children, which is why she considers her colleagues her family. She also has a high regard for honor and justice.

Clarke is also known for portraying the role of Bella Swan's mother Renée Dwyer in the hit film "Twilight," as well as CIA Agent Lena Smith on "Covert Affairs" from USA Network.

Showbiz411 reported that the series is looking for another actor who will portray the role of Clayton, a physically fit African-American between the age of late 20s to early 30s. He is expected to join the team after DiNozzo's departure.

Meanwhile, DiNozzo's reputation will be tainted in the next episode of "NCIS" season 13, titled "Charade."

According to the synopsis for the episode, a group of criminals will steal DiNozzo's identity and blackmail important government officials like senators. The spoiler does not reveal the intentions of the perpetrators in using DiNozzo's name in a crime.

The official synopsis for the episode reads:

"After Tony's identity is stolen by multiple perpetrators, the fake Special Agent DiNozzos begins blackmailing senators."

The episode airs on April 5 on CBS.
