After DiNozzo's departure from Gibbs' team, McGee will have to step up and assume the role of senior agent.

But while the 13^th season of NCIS was filled with many heartbreaking goodbyes when the team finally said their final farewell to Cote de Pablo's character Ziva and Michael Weatherly's Dinozzo, some good news is to be expected in the upcoming season.

Among the happy news that is expected to unveil this season is the engagement of Delilah and McGee.

According to a report by TV Guide, rumors are rife that with McGee taking on a bigger role in the team, he will also take a major step in his personal life when he asks Delilah to take the major step.

The team will also welcome new additions such as Wilmer Valderma's Agent Nick Torres, a former undercover agent who is used to working alone, but will eventually be groomed by Gibbs into becoming a team player.

Blue Blood's Jennifer Esposito, who sends Gibbs several candidates for DiNozzo's replacement, all of whom, he rejects, will also find herself coming to the team to confront Gibbs as to the real problem about the agents.

This means that there will be two new agents on the team when Tony only vacated one post.

According to showrunner Gary Glasberg, they have something exciting cooked up to welcome the new additions to the cast.

"There's something really fun coming up — we've rearranged things a bit. I think the fans are going to go a little crazy," he said.

He also expressed excitement that Michael Weatherly's show will be airing right after NCIS.

"It's interesting, because we obviously lost Michael Weatherly, and we're so happy for him — [his new show Bull] is going to be on right after ours – and yet after 13 years, you go, 'Wow, now we have a new injection of different energy," he said. 

NCIS Season 14 returns to CBS on September 20.
