The "Need for Speed" franchise is showing no signs of slowing down, as "Need for Speed Payback" gets a new trailer that showcases the upcoming game's story.

Developer Ghost Games and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has released a story trailer for the new racing game. The story is likened to racing/action movies like the "The Fast and The Furious" franchise starring Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker. As such, it follows the mold of the movie franchise, where one guy who has an affinity for fast cars gets betrayed by a group and wants to get revenge, all the while being chased by authorities.

The story trailer shows Tyler Morgan establishing a racing crew together with Jessica Miller and Sean McAlister to climb up the respect ladder in Fortune Valley and undermine The House, a cartel which owns the Valley, as well as its police. The plot shares similarities with 2006's "Need for Speed: Carbon," where the story or premise is made as a backdrop for players to win races and weaken the game's overarching criminal authority.

Like "Carbon," "Payback" also allows players to meet and employ new crew members along the way. These additional crew members are Ravindra Chaudhry, the game's car mechanic, Lina Navarro, a representative for The House cartel as well as street racing, and Marcus Weir, the gambler who apparently runs all the local casinos in Fortune Valley.

Story progression is where the game shies away from the previous recent "Need for Speed" games, as it is now tied to a series of leagues where each has a boss which the players must outrace.

"Need for Speed Payback" is set to be launched on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Nov. 10.
