A new dual-play mechanic for the "Batman: Arkham Knight" gameplay was introduced via the new trailer released by Warner Bros.

With the new mechanic, players will be allowed to switch between characters. According to the game publisher, gamers can "seamlessly switch between The Dark Knight and his allies including Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, and Azrael in free-flow combat." This mechanic is similar to the one used in "Grand Theft Auto."

In the newly released trailer, Batman and his buddies Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman are seen battling with the game's persistent villains in a tag-team free-flow combat. Some of the featured super villains include the Scarecrow, Two-Face, Penguin, Riddler, Poison Ivy, Firefly, as well as Joker's girlfriend and loyal accomplice Harley Quinn.

Game developer Rocksteady Studio will also allow players to play the Harley Quinn character in planned downloadable content challenge maps. When playing the sinister villainess, players will be involved in a fight within the Blüdhaven Police Department long before the events of the Arkham Knight happened.

The game developer also came out with a new villain called Arkham Knight specifically for the new game, which is the successor for the 2013 released "Batman: Arkham Origins." The soon-to-be released action-adventure game based on the iconic DC Comics superhero is set one yet after the events featured in the first installment of the "Batman: Arkham" series titled the "Batman: Arkham City," which came out in 2011.

Aside from these villains, a mysterious assassin named Azrael is also featured in the trailer video. However, the character's appearance does not give away any detail about its involvement in the game.

"Batman: Arkham Knight" is scheduled to come out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well as PCs on June 23.
