New 'Dying Light' PC patch reinstates modding

Techland recently rolled out a new patch for the "Dying Light" PC edition that can now enable modding in the game after the last patch accidentally blocked it. 

Earlier this month, patch 1.2.1 was released by the game developer meant to prevent cheating in the PvP, but it accidentally blocked the modding capacity of the game. However, Techland instantly came out with a statement saying that blocking the user-made mods in the game was not intentional. 

"Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention. We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game's multiplayer mode," the game developer said in a post in Steam. "At Techland, we have always supported the mod community, and loved seeing how our own game can be changed by the players. A big part of the original Dead Island's success was the passion and creativity of mod-makers from our community. We want the same for Dying Light."

The new patch 1.4.0 aims to correct their earlier mistake since the game developer already made the modding option fully enabled. The modded versions cannot work online if one is playing against those who use the original versions of the game, but the mods will work with the versions compatible with it. 

Also, the new patch removes the infinite spit exploit that can be seen in the Be The Zombie mode, as well as adds several general stability enhancements and other vital limits on RAM resources.

Hardware, performance and stability issues

It includes various resolved, stability fixes, several general performance optimizations, as well as considerably reduced RAM memory usage.

Gameplay issues

Including additional option to stop the use of film grain video effect, improved the issues when the Survivor Rank 25 is reached, optimized the video memory management to stop the "ResizeBuffers failed 0x887a0005" error message, and improve the long load times that were experienced by the users.

Be-the-Zombie mode

Repaired the "infinite spit" exploit in Be-the-Zombie mode, improved the bugs linked to the games while playing the role of the zombie, as well as adding more tools for keeping track of network issues.
