A car registered to New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spike was found abandoned in the median strip of Interstate 495 in Foxborough, Massachusetts early Sunday morning as the police responded following a report of a crash, Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said according to reports.

According to ESPN, the police responded to a report at around 3:30 a.m. of a 2011 Mercedes Maybach abandoned on I-495 as the authorities were notified by a representative of the OnStar on-board navigation system that the driver of the vehicle reported that he hit a deer.

The report also said that when the police arrived the driver of the car was nowhere to be seen and there was also no deer in the site but the vehicle had front-end damage.

Procopio said according to ESPN's report, that a few moments after responding to the abandoned Mercedes Maybach, a report of a 2009 Nissan Murano which was also on the same area where the abandoned car was got hit on the rear by a vehicle that they did not see.

In a report by The Boston Globe, the Nissan Murano passengers included a 51-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman, and a 12-year-old boy who were taken to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

The report added that the police are investigating on a possible connection between the two incidents.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said regarding the incident according to ESPN, "We are aware of the report and are looking into the matter, but I don't have any additional comment at this time."

Spike has been involved in a number of issues and controversies in his first stint with New England from 2010-2013.

But still the Patriots re-signed him last May after he made negative remarks about the Patriots when he parted ways with the team joining the Buffalo Bills last season.
