Apple may not hold a press event on Feb. 24 after all, contrary to what adamant rumors say.

Unnamed sources told 9to5Mac that the tech giant does not have a media event scheduled by month's end amidst the reports repeatedly saying that Apple fans can finally lay their eyes on the MacBook Air this February. The rumor was first sparked by Taiwanese media source TechNews around two weeks ago.

The alleged release date was reinforced by French website iGen. According to the report, the event will focus on the Apple Watch and the company will inform developers about the latest details pertaining to the app development for the OS. The website has a reliable track record, but Apple-centric website 9to5Mac and Mark Gurman stepped up and contradicted the information.

At any rate, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the company's recent earnings call that the Apple Watch will ship in April. The company will most likely announce more details about device first before it begins its pre-orders. However, the specific release date remains unknown.

Meanwhile, the details about device that was rumored to be launched this month remain undisclosed. Still, speculations suggest that the new MacBook Air will feature a 12-inch screen display, between the 11-inch and 13-inch variants of the current MacBook Air. The laptop is also purported to be powered by Intel's Broadwell chip and will feature USB 3.0 Type-C yielding to a fanless design and thinner profile.

Taiwanese media source DigiTimes reported that the MacBook Air will be manufactured by Taiwan-based manufacturer Quanta Computer, which reportedly had a mass hiring recently in order to ramp up production and keep up with the demands and orders of its biggest partner.
