New York Knicks rumors: Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani to be traded?

The New York Knicks continue to clean house, this time reportedly offering NBA veterans Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani to teams who may be interested. This development follows the recent transaction which saw the Knicks trading J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert as Phil Jackson continues to find the right antidote for the Knicks's road to success.

Apparently with the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, Jackson wants to reshape the team as much as he can. However, aside from resident star Carmelo Anthony, injury-prone Amare Stoudemire is surprisingly not included in the list of players that Jackson plans to send off.

Calderon has had his share of struggles but apparently the move is something connected with his high salary which could be a problem for the Knicks in the coming years. Calderon arrive in New York just recently but with the Knicks falling miserably, it seems that his departure has now become imminent.

The same case holds true for Andrea Bargnani who owns a hefty $11.5 million contract. Should Jackson fail to trade Bargnani, he will most likely end up being waived to clear up some salary space.

As the Knicks continue to clean house, how does Jackson intend to rebuild a team around Anthony?

Jackson says that he plans to explore the available talent in free agency and from the coming draft/s.

"Obviously I didn't do the right thing in picking the group of guys that were here" says Jackson in an article from the New York Post.

The question now is who would be willing to take in a couple of fat-salaried NBA veterans under their wing. There could be a couple of teams interested, particularly the ones who have a high chance of making it to the NBA playoffs.

That list could include the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks or even the Golden State Warriors. But than again, it would depend if they still have the cap space to accommodate these two grizzled NBA vets.
